Burhan arrives in Asmara for talks with Isaias

President Isaias Afwerki welcomed Sudan’s Sovereign Council chairman for consultations on bilateral ties and regional and international issues.
Sudan’s Sovereign Council chairman, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived in Asmara for a working visit and talks with President Isaias Afwerki.
Isaias welcomed Burhan and his delegation at Asmara International Airport following their mid-morning arrival.
The visit forms part of regular consultations between Eritrea and Sudan. The two leaders are expected to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, alongside regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Burhan and Isaias also met in Asmara on 17 July, when they discussed bilateral cooperation, developments in Sudan and regional affairs. Those talks covered ways to expand cooperation across several fields and strengthen coordination between the two countries.
The July meeting took place at the State House, and Burhan returned to Sudan after concluding the brief visit. The latest consultations bring the two leaders together again to review their relationship and developments affecting the region.
