Henok completes Vuelta 43rd after five top-15 finishes

Eritrean cyclist Henok Mulubrhan completed the 2026 Vuelta a España in 43rd place overall on Sunday, closing three weeks of racing with five top-15 stage finishes.
The XDS Astana rider placed 86th in the 112-kilometre finale around Granada, finishing in 2:55:57, one minute 49 seconds behind stage winner Tobias Johannessen. Henok’s final overall time was 76:07:25, placing him 2:14:30 behind race winner Enric Mas.
Henok’s strongest result came on Stage 15, when he finished eighth for his first top-10 of the race. He also placed 15th on Stage 5, 14th on Stage 8, 15th on Stage 10 and 13th on Stage 11, giving Eritrean cycling a steady presence across the three-week Grand Tour.
XDS Astana ended the race second in the team classification. Cristian Rodríguez and Harold Tejada finished ninth and 10th overall, while Alessandro Romele took second behind Johannessen in the final stage. Henok concluded the points classification in 51st place with 22 points.
