Henok Mulubrhan set for La Vuelta debut

Eritrean professional cyclist Henok Mulubrhan in XDS Astana colours ahead of his 2026 La Vuelta debut.

Eritrea’s Henok Mulubrhan is set to make his La Vuelta a España debut when the 21-stage Grand Tour begins on 22 August, adding another major race to the 26-year-old’s career.

Eritrean cyclist Henok Mulubrhan is set to make his first appearance at La Vuelta a España, with the XDS Astana rider preparing for the third and final Grand Tour of the 2026 season. Africa Rising Cycling highlighted Mulubrhan ahead of the race, describing the 26-year-old as being in strong form after collecting three points-classification jerseys in UCI races.

La Vuelta begins on 22 August and runs through 13 September, with 21 stages covering 3,275 kilometres. The race opens in Monaco before moving through France and Spain.

For Mulubrhan, the start marks another step at cycling’s highest level. The Asmara-born rider has previously completed two editions of the Giro d’Italia, finishing 87th in 2023 and improving to 47th in 2024, but has yet to race either La Vuelta or the Tour de France.

Mulubrhan has remained one of Eritrea’s leading international riders in recent seasons. In 2026, he won the final stage of the Tour du Rwanda and later took a stage at the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai.
